CLASSESClasses are held for pupils from 2½ years in Ballet. Tap is introduced at the appropriate age around 4 years.
Modern Dance can be taken from 5 years old. All proposed classes are discussed parents on entry to ensure the most appropriate for the pupil.
EXAMINATIONSPupils are trained for examinations in The British Ballet Organization (BBO) from Pre-Assessment to Intermediate standard in Ballet, Tap, and Modern Syllabus.
The school is a member of the Council for Dance Education & Training UK (CDET) and the BBO examination syllabus is one of the few recognised standards of CDET and now has Government recognition. The school boasts a 100% examination pass rate.
SHOWSPupils are also trained for shows. 'Children's Showtime' is held at the Winter Gardens, Margate, and includes all those pupils who wish to participate and has proved very popular over many years. The school is also involved with local pantomimes at the local theatres and pupils can take part in other productions such as cabarets, charity shows, and Summer Seasons etc.
The Proprietor Josephine Johnston M.B.B.O has produced Broadway Shows with pupils from the Thanet Stage School of Dance & Drama, as well as local students in Beijing China; in Yalta, Ukraine; and in various London productions.
Many students have progressed on to vocational schools, to train as dance teachers; dance in West End Shows; cruise lines; and many careers associated with the arts
Uniform can be obtained from the shop at the Dancing school at very competitive rates.
Adult Tap Classes are also available and held at the school. They are very popular, provide good exercise and are a lot of fun.
